Members Greg Page, Jeff Fatt, and Murray Cook said that they would be handing over the purple, red and yellow jumpers they wore so that a “new generation” can start leading the way after the close of this year’s world tour.
The sole remaining member, Anthony Field, is to continue hitting the stage with an all-new line-up inclusive of Emma Watkins, aged 22. Ever since being founded at the start of the 1990s, The Wiggles, have managed to shift over 30 units’ worth of their albums, VHS tapes, and DVDs.

Remarkably, they topped the annual list of the 50 richest Australian entertainers every year from 2004 to 2008, while last year being ranked in the number two spot. In his statement, Cook commented that entertaining the world’s children for over 20 years meant that a lot of time was spent away from relatives and friends, which is why the decision was made by the three founding members to hang up their boots.

Before they make a return to their native Australia and finish their tour Down Under, The Wiggles will pay visits to Britain, the US, and Canada. Although pop sensation Kylie Minogue, also an Australian, was deemed an honorary member of the group  two years ago, it has never had a female among its ranks.

An impressive seven of their albums entered the Billboard 200 chart this week, with their 1986 multi-platinum debut Licence to Ill entering the highest at number 18. When compared to the 4,000 copies sold in the previous week, at least 55,000 copies of Beastie Boys albums were purchased two days after the death of Yauch.

The rapper, a native of the Brooklyn Heights neighbourhood in New York City, died of cancer last Friday. He was 47 years of age.

Other albums that made a return to the Billboard 200 included Solid Gold Hits, a compilation that reached number 51, Paul’s Boutique, which reached 56, and the Hot Sauce Committee Part 2, which reached 107. Ill Communication, considered the group’s best work among hip hop fans, hit 109, with Check Your Head and The Sounds of Science Anthology achieving the 124th and 141st spots respectively.

In terms of downloads, the Jewish-American group sold 151,000 tracks – an improvement of 14,000 when measured against the week before. Brass Monkey, taken from the Licensed to Ill album, was the most popular track as it was downloaded at least 15,000 times. Spotify, the famous online music streaming site, reported a 17-fold increase of users playing Beastie Boys songs.

The pastel, created in 1895, was purchased by an anonymous bid at Sotheby’s in Manhattan, New York City. The bidding lasted a total of 12 minutes. Munch’s work is just one of four that the Norwegian expressionist made, and was previously privately owned.

All proceeds of the sale will go towards the founding of a new Norwegian museum and art centre, which will also act as a hotel and will probably be located in Oslo. Seven bidders had been competing to take home the work, which started at $40m at auction. After the sale’s confirmation, the crowd broke into rapture.

Money experts have commented that the reason for the auction price breaking records is simply a case of market economics. During a time when stock markets are jittery, top-end pieces of art will always be reliable investments.

The previous record for a piece of artwork sold at an auction was for Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust, by  Picasso, which went for $106.5m two years ago. According to Forbes, Munch’s The Scream is only the eighth most expensive piece sold at either a private or public auction after prices have been adjusted for inflation. Remarkably, all of the remaining three versions of Much’s most famous work are owned by museums in Norway.

In its message on Modern Family’s Facebook page, ABC asked viewers to choose their favourite of two possible titles, which are Only Fools and Kings of Van Nuys. The network has described the show’s plot as involving stories related to two fumbling brothers who are just a scheme away from becoming rich.

The American version of the British comedy will star John Leguizamo, who will assume the lead role. Originally, Only Fools And Horses had been considered as an option in a Facebook poll, but it didn’t receive much backing as potential fans of the remake felt that the title was too long.

The Peckham of the original British Only Fools and Horses will be replaced in the American remake by Van Nuys, a Los Angeles district. Over 850 people have thus far voiced their opinions on the pilot of the title since ABC’s post, which was made on Tuesday. Many fans have made their own suggestions too, such as “Cancelled After Five Episodes”, and have chosen to ignore the network’s two choices.

While Dustin Ybarra will feature as Donnie, Leguizamo’s brother, Christopher Lloyd, who starred as Doc in the Back to Future Series, has already signed on the dotted line to play the grandfather of the two siblings, Jackie. Should the pilot be picked up by ABC for a full series, new episodes will be broadcast later this year.

The 58-year-old is best remembered for playing a famous flute riff from one of the biggest hits of the 80s, and the band’s most successful chart smash, Down Under. It was two of Mr Ham’s friends that discovered his corpse, due to them having become concerned over the artist’s well-being after not hearing anything from him in quite some time.

Melbourne authorities haven’t confirmed the man’s identity as of yet, with a crime scene having already been established while the exact cause of death is looked into. Shane O’Connell, a Victoria Police Detective Senior Sergeant, commented that his force isn’t prepared to start going into any detail over the death due to investigations being at such an early stage.

It was added that the police are still yet to identify the deceased’s relatives of Ham’s death. The flautist joined his band, Men At Work, around 33 years ago and played the harmonica, the saxophone, and keyboards in addition to his favoured flute.

Men at Work achieved worldwide fame in the early-to-mid1980s after the release of their 1983 hit Down Under. Their album, entitled Business As Usual, hit number 1 in Australia, the US, and Britain, although their legacy was later tarnished in recent years due to a long-running copyright dispute related to the flute riff ham played on Down Under.

The record came in at the peak of the US Billboard chart last week yet has now dropped to number eight. This reflects a slump in sales from the 359,000 sold in week one to just 48,000 copies sold in week two – a worrying decline of 86.7 per cent.

Fellow pop star Lady Gaga was the last performer to break the record in 2011 with her album Born This Way, which dropped from 1.1 million copies sold in its first week down to just 174,000 sold in week two, a lesser decline of 84 per cent. MDNA had its top spot stolen both in the US and Britain by Nicki Minaj’s latest effort Pink Friday - Roman Reloaded. In Britain, MDNA dropped from number one down to number seven in The Official Album Chart.

The Trinidadian rapper appears twice on Madonna’s album, with the Queen of Pop’s daughter, Lourdes, aged 15, singing on the track Superstar. The compiler of the chart, Neilsen Soundscan, had predicted MDNA’s huge fall due to its first-week sales including albums that were given away with tickets to concerts that are a part of Madonna’s upcoming tour, which consists of 90 dates and will start in May, as well as all pre-orders from iTunes.

A full report says that the 48-year-old celebrity was discovered on 11 February in an overflowing bathtub. Investigators insist that they recovered a piece of paper that had been rolled-up so that it could be used to snort cocaine. Additionally, a small spoon and portable mirror were found in the bathroom.

The singer’s autopsy concluded that she had drowned because of the harmful effects of cocaine use, which were coupled with heart disease. As well as this, the report indicated that the singer died with a perforated nose, a common sign of substance abuse carried out over a long period of time.

The 42-page document brought more details than the initial report that was released last month. Houston was discovered dead hours before a pre-Grammy party she had meant to be attending.

According to friends and family, Houston appeared committed to making a comeback, which would have included an appearance in a new film, prior to her death.

The show’s original writers, Jonathan Lynn and partner Antony Jay will script the new show, which will be based on their stage production from 2010. The series, to be aired on TV channel Gold, is to see Prime Minister Jim Hacker again in office while spearheading a coalition government.

Although Paul Eddington originally played the Prime Minister in the stage production of Yes, Prime Minster, there is no word as of yet on who will fulfill the role in the new six-part season. Gold said that the updated Hacker will tackle the economic crisis, as well as a leadership crisis with coalition partners and the Scottish independence referendum.

Jane Rogerson of UKTV commented that Britain’s current political landscape provides the perfect setting for another round of Yes, Prime Minster. Yes, Prime Minsiter originally consisted of 38 episodes that ran on television from 1980 to 1988. Nigel Hawthorne starred as Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby and Derek Fowlds played Hacker’s private secretary, Bernard Woolley.

The two-time Oscar winner was introducing current First Lady Michelle Obama during an event in Manhattan. Today, De Niro released a press statement explaining that although said in jest, his comments still weren’t meant to cause offence to anyone or cause embarrassment.

Among others, Republican candidate Newt Gingrich branded the remarks “inexcusable”, especially considering that his wife Callista was mentioned along with Karen Santorum and Ann Romney when  De Niro rhetorically asked the audience whether they think the US is ready to have a Caucasian first lady. Gingrich made calls for President Obama to publicly apologise, despite the leader having no association with the comments.

While Michelle Obama’s press secretary commented that the joke was “inappropriate, Ann Romney – the wife of another Republican candidate, Mitt Romney – spoke to Piers Morgan while appearing on news channel CNN and confessed that that she had taken De Niro’s remarks for “a joke”. She added that that the Godfather II legend had learned the hard way on how telling jokes is the fastest way to land in hot water whenever active in the world of politics.

A statement released by the US television giant said that, due to continuing contractual disputes with Bear Grylls, the Discovery Channel has decided to end all current productions with the English star.  Grylls, the presenter of the show since 2006, has become famous for eating insects as well as drinking animal urine while in the wild.

The move has been confirmed by his publicist, who said that a mutual agreement with the Discovery Channel couldn’t be reached. Heather Krug was speaking to the Hollywood Reporter when she commented that Grylls’ goal in life has always been to make empowering shows for fans around the globe, which is why great risks were taken to bring Discovery award-winning programmes that were spread-out over seven seasons.

Krug continued by adding that Bear loved the journey that Man vs Wild took him on and is now looking forward to delivering further cutting edge shows for his loyal audience in the near future.

Broadcast in Britain as Born Survivor, Man vs Wild  revolves around dumping Grylls in remote parts of the world before he then shows the audience how they would be able to survive using materials found in the wild. Not just popular in the US and Britain, the show has now been broadcast in close to 200 countries around the world while currently being well into its sixth season.
