There have been reports emerging recently that say Sky is buying 15,000 3D televisions from LG Electronics, the Korean manufacturer. However, contrary to their original statement earlier this week, the manufacturer is saying that these reports aren’t true.

On Tuesday, LG issued a press release saying that Sky had purchased 15,000 3D televisions, which would have been the largest 3D TV deal. However, in a statement from a company spokesman on Wednesday, the Korean electronics manufacturer said that, although they are supporting the new 3D channel to be launched from the broadcaster, this statement isn’t totally accurate.

The spokesman continued that Sky is only helping to support its commercial customers in buying televisions direct from a UK 3rd-party. This is a great opportunity for both Sky and LG to bring ground-breaking technology to the public, he added, as well as a huge step forward in the manufacturer’s desire to showcase the newest television technology available.

So although Sky isn’t buying the 3D televisions, LG will still be selling a lot of them. The televisions are being bought directly by the pubs and clubs, not by the broadcaster like first thought. Sky is only encouraging the sales, for which the pubs and clubs will get a discount.

Sky is planning to launch the 3D channel, which is the first in Europe, next month in pubs and clubs, following a trial in pubs in January. Then in the spring they are planning to launch the service to their top tier (Sky+HD) TV customers, bringing them Premier League matches in 3D, as well as other content.

Supermarket giant Woolworths has announced a new prepaid mobile plan so that customers can make more standard calls to other networks. This expansion comes after the company launched Everyday Mobile last August on the Optus GSM mobile network, aiming to offer customers a cheap and easy to use mobile option.

This newest prepaid service is called the Chatterbox plan. It will be available with the current Everyday Mobile Simple Saver plan and will allow customers to get bonus credits for standard talk and text when they recharge their plan.

When customers recharge $30, another $30 bonus credit will be added, and this goes the same for $20 and $50 recharges, while any remaining credit will roll over if the account is recharged within 30 days. Customers are able to recharge their prepaid plan online, by phone or at a Woolworths location, which includes Big W, Woolworths Supermarkets, Dick Smith, BWS, Safeway, Dan Murphy’s and participating Caltex Woolworths.

Woolworths Everyday Mobile head, Graeme Veitch, said that the entry of the company into the telecommunications market has been successful. Their mobile service has been popular with consumers, he continued, as it’s simple use appeals to a large group of Woolworths shoppers.

With Chatterbox, customers have more choices, Veitch said, explaining that they will be able to choose a long 100 day expiry Simple Saver plan or the new Chatterbox plan, which has the same great rates with an added bonus. He added that Woolworths is committed to delivering the best value and will continue to develop more plans.

Sky customers will be pleased to know that the company is including Sky Sports HD 4 and ITV1 HD in its plans to offer 50 high-definition channels by Christmas this year. Anyone who’s subscribed to the Sky+HD service be able to watch high-definition versions of programs like Without a Trace, Britain’s Got Talent and The Prisoner soon.

Along with the two mentioned HD channels above, Sky will also add Hallmark Channel HD to its line-up over the next few months. With these three new high-definition channels, their service will provide more HD channels than any other UK service at more than 40.

Sky director of product management Hilary Perchard says that they are making their high-definition channel package an even better value by adding more channels. There is a record demand for HD seen at Sky, she continued, both in the number of HD programs customers are watching and in the amount of customers signing up for the Sky+HD service. They look forward to offering 50 HD channels by Christmas, Perchard added.

Sky plans to add ITV1 HD on April 2, which will allow viewers to watch World Cup matches in high-definition, along with other shows like Survival with Ray Mears and Law and Order: UK. Sky Sports HD 4 will be available from April 29, allowing supporters to see The Ashes, The Ryder Cup, Barclays Premier League, Guinness Premiership rugby and UEFA Champions League in HD. On June 28, Hallmark Channel HD will be made available, which will let viewers see their most popular titles in high-definition for the first time, including Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

On top of these channels, Sky also plans to launch Sky News HD in the coming months. This will be the first HD news channel launched in Europe.

A British couple - 24-year-old Ayman Najafi and 25-year-old Charlotte Lewis, was accused of kissing in a restaurant in Dubai and now faces as long as a month in jail. The charge comes after a mother complained that her daughter saw caught them in the act.

Last November, Najafi, who has been living in Dubai for a year-and-a-half, and Lewis were drinking and intimately touching each other and kissing. They were arrested and had their passports confiscated until they completed their sentence, but have since been released on bail, as well as fined £178 for illegally consuming alcohol, according to their lawyer, Khalaf al-Hosani.

The couple made an appeal in court on Sunday, but they will have to wait 3 weeks before finding out if they are successful. Their lawyer said that there was no inappropriate kissing, as the two are only friends. Hosani also said that they were just greeting each other normally, and it’s understood that it was just a kiss on the cheek.

A misdemeanors court in Dubai reportedly heard evidence from the mother that initially made the complaint to authorities. She said that she was offended by the Brits’ behavior at Jumeirah Beach Residence, which is where she and her daughter were dining.

This is the third case in less than 2 years in which British nationals have been accused of breaking decency laws in Dubai. The first was in 2008, where a couple was accused but exonerated for having drunken sex out of wedlock in public, while another couple was accused of having sex out of wedlock in just January but were exonerated after they produced a marriage certificate. The verdict in this case is expected April 4.

Corey Feldman, 38, went on Larry King Live to talk about the life and death of his best friend Corey Haim. During their conversation, he expressed how frustrated he is about the speculations made that his friend’s death was caused by a drug overdose.

Feldman said that people need to stop jumping to conclusions. They need to stop saying that Haim died from a drug overdose and coming up with their own theories, he continued, adding that nobody will know until the coroner’s report comes out and specific evidence and the toxicology results come back.

Haim died in the early morning hours of Wednesday after having flu-like symptoms for two days. He had been taking prescription and over-the-counter medications for it, as well as prescriptions as part of a sobriety program. Officials didn’t find any illicit drugs in his apartment, which he shared with his mother, so if his death had to do with drugs, it was caused by the combination of medicinal treatments he was taking.

Feldman said that he was shocked about the loss of his friend. He told King that he talked to Haim just 3 or 4 days ago, and he was fine. Feldman said that he was actually getting advice about something he was upset about, and Haim was being very positive. He also revealed that the two were in talks to film a sequel to the 1988 movie License to Drive, while a third film would also be made.

Aside from appearing on Larry King Live on Wednesday night, Feldman also did an interview on The Early Show Thursday morning. He reiterated that he doesn’t believe Haim’s death was a suicide or intentional overdose.

1980s teen actor Corey Haim died on Wednesday at 2:15am PT at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. It’s believed that he died from drug overdose, but a LA coroner will do an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The 38-year-old was having symptoms of the flu before he died and was using prescription and over-the-counter medications, according to police. He was in his apartment, which he shared with his mother, when he became dizzy and went to his knees in the bedroom. Haim’s mom helped him to the bed, and then he became unresponsive. Then she called paramedics at about 1am, according to police.

Authorities said that Haim had the flu symptoms for 2 days. He was known for having trouble with drug abuse during his life, but they said that no illicit drugs were found. However, they did find 4 prescription medications at the apartment. The toxicology tests from the autopsy will take about a month to be completed.

Mark Heaslip, Haim’s agent, said that they don’t think the former actor overdosed, because he was clean. He said that his death is totally unexpected, but it could have been caused by a reaction with the medications, as he was also taking meds as part of his sobriety program. Haim’s mother is completely wrecked over this, he added.

The most famous role Haim had was in the 1987 film The Lost Boys, appearing next to Corey Feldman. He played the role of a teen whose bother became a vampire. He and Feldman had become friends and appeared in 8 films together, as well as an A&E television series, The Two Coreys, which was canceled after only a year.

After that claim was made and the pics were leaked, 3 other women went to tabloids with their stories about how Ashley had slept with them.

This whole fiasco has been going on for basically a month now, and it’s certain that both of them would rather it be over already. Here’s to the divorce being resolved quickly so they can both get on with their lives.

A British sex offender that had previously been convicted of rape twice posed as a teenager on Facebook in order to lure a college girl from her home. After getting the girl - 17-year-old Ashleigh Hall - 33-year-old Peter Chapman raped and then killed her.

The man had evaded police for more than a year after failing to notify a change of address, which was a violation of his Sex Offenders’ Register order, but he has now been convicted and sentenced to jail for the rape and murder for a minimum of 35 years to life.

Chapman had posted a bare-chested photo of a good looking teenage guy on Facebook to lure Hall. Prosecutor Graham Reeds said that the girl’s friends said that she was interested in boys, but boys didn’t generally return the interest. Because Hall was given some attention from the man, she was likely very flattered by it, which made her an easy target for Chapman.

After linking up on Facebook, the chats between the two moved to Tagged.com and MSN messaging. Hall eventually gave Chapman her mobile phone details, and they also communicated through texts. Reeds says that it was obvious from the beginning that the man was obsessed with sex and trying to meet with the girl.

Chapman didn’t make it to their first scheduled meeting, because he figured Hall wouldn’t get into his car as soon as she noticed that he wasn’t the same teen in the pic. So he invented a plan to pretend to be his father and pick her up at her house.

After picking her up, he took her to a secluded and dark lay-by last year on October 25. Then he forced her to perform oral sex on him, and before raping her, he bound her forearms and gagged her with gaffer tape by winding it around her face. After the rape, he put more tape over face to suffocate and kill her, then dumped her body near a Little Chef cafe.

Chapman was stopped by police due to the violation of the sex offender order after returning to the scene. He eventually admitted to an officer that an accident had happened and later produced a nine page account of his story, which police described as all lies. Authorities kept digging, and the man was forced to confess to failing to notify of a change of address, kidnapping, rape and murder.
