1980s teen actor Corey Haim died on Wednesday at 2:15am PT at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. It’s believed that he died from drug overdose, but a LA coroner will do an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The 38-year-old was having symptoms of the flu before he died and was using prescription and over-the-counter medications, according to police. He was in his apartment, which he shared with his mother, when he became dizzy and went to his knees in the bedroom. Haim’s mom helped him to the bed, and then he became unresponsive. Then she called paramedics at about 1am, according to police.

Authorities said that Haim had the flu symptoms for 2 days. He was known for having trouble with drug abuse during his life, but they said that no illicit drugs were found. However, they did find 4 prescription medications at the apartment. The toxicology tests from the autopsy will take about a month to be completed.

Mark Heaslip, Haim’s agent, said that they don’t think the former actor overdosed, because he was clean. He said that his death is totally unexpected, but it could have been caused by a reaction with the medications, as he was also taking meds as part of his sobriety program. Haim’s mother is completely wrecked over this, he added.

The most famous role Haim had was in the 1987 film The Lost Boys, appearing next to Corey Feldman. He played the role of a teen whose bother became a vampire. He and Feldman had become friends and appeared in 8 films together, as well as an A&E television series, The Two Coreys, which was canceled after only a year.

It was rumored last week that Cheryl and Ashley Cole were going to go to marriage counselling so that the Chelsea footballer could tell his side of the story and try to get the Girls Aloud singer not to leave him. However, rumor has it now that he wants their divorce to be over with by the summer.

According to sources close to Ashley, he wants to be able to concentrate on the World Cup this summer. There is not much hope of he and Cheryl working it out this time, an insider said, and they are suppose to see each other sometime this week to discuss it, but even that isn’t set in stone.

The source also said that Ashley’s been telling his friends that he can feel it’s over. However, they haven’t seen each other for weeks - since before Cheryl even decided that she couldn’t do it anymore - so things may change when they meet face-to-face to talk about it, the insider hopes.

This news comes after a source revealed two weeks ago that Cheryl was signaling to her friends that she wants the divorce to quick as well. The singer had decided that she couldn’t take it - the cheating - anymore after allegations surfaced in a tabloid that Ashley had been sending nude photos and explicit texts to a model. After that claim was made and the pics were leaked, 3 other women went to tabloids with their stories about how Ashley had slept with them.

This whole fiasco has been going on for basically a month now, and it’s certain that both of them would rather it be over already. Here’s to the divorce being resolved quickly so they can both get on with their lives.

A British sex offender that had previously been convicted of rape twice posed as a teenager on Facebook in order to lure a college girl from her home. After getting the girl - 17-year-old Ashleigh Hall - 33-year-old Peter Chapman raped and then killed her.

The man had evaded police for more than a year after failing to notify a change of address, which was a violation of his Sex Offenders’ Register order, but he has now been convicted and sentenced to jail for the rape and murder for a minimum of 35 years to life.

Chapman had posted a bare-chested photo of a good looking teenage guy on Facebook to lure Hall. Prosecutor Graham Reeds said that the girl’s friends said that she was interested in boys, but boys didn’t generally return the interest. Because Hall was given some attention from the man, she was likely very flattered by it, which made her an easy target for Chapman.

After linking up on Facebook, the chats between the two moved to Tagged.com and MSN messaging. Hall eventually gave Chapman her mobile phone details, and they also communicated through texts. Reeds says that it was obvious from the beginning that the man was obsessed with sex and trying to meet with the girl.

Chapman didn’t make it to their first scheduled meeting, because he figured Hall wouldn’t get into his car as soon as she noticed that he wasn’t the same teen in the pic. So he invented a plan to pretend to be his father and pick her up at her house.

After picking her up, he took her to a secluded and dark lay-by last year on October 25. Then he forced her to perform oral sex on him, and before raping her, he bound her forearms and gagged her with gaffer tape by winding it around her face. After the rape, he put more tape over face to suffocate and kill her, then dumped her body near a Little Chef cafe.

Chapman was stopped by police due to the violation of the sex offender order after returning to the scene. He eventually admitted to an officer that an accident had happened and later produced a nine page account of his story, which police described as all lies. Authorities kept digging, and the man was forced to confess to failing to notify of a change of address, kidnapping, rape and murder.

Reports have emerged that Cheryl Cole is agreeing to go to counselling with cheater husband Ashley, starting as soon as next week. This comes after 4 women recently claimed that they either exchanged explicit texts with the footballer, had sex with him, or both. Then it wasn’t long after the fourth came forward that Cheryl’s spokesperson confirmed that she would be seeking a divorce.

However, reports are claiming that Cheryl is giving in to the Chelsea footballer after he sent her a series of text messages and left numerous voice messages. He’s apparently been begging for his wife to give him another chance. The worst part about this is that Cheryl is said to also blame herself for their 3-and-a-half year marriage failing.

A source close to Cheryl claims that the Girls Aloud singer has agreed to see a marriage counsellor with Ashley to listen about his issues. Apparently she thinks that he deserves to tell his side of the story, and she understands how he may think that she let him down in their relationship, the source continued.

The insider also said that Cheryl is starting to accept Ashley’s claim that their collapsed marriage wasn’t all his fault. Although she is furious and devastated about what he’s done, the insider added, she accepts that she owes it to their marriage to talk about it with him.

Well, Ashley does have one thing right…he’s not the only one responsible for their marriage collapsing, as at least 3 of the women he cheated on her with are to blame as well since they knew he was married (the fourth slept with him in 2004 and didn’t know about their newly announced relationship yet…or at least she claims). He is only feeding Cheryl more lies to get his way. She should just be rid of him and be done with it!

Royal Air Force (RAF) jets hurried to investigate an American Airlines flight early Tuesday when a disruptive female passenger tried to go into the cockpit. After arriving at the Heathrow Airport shortly before 11am, police boarded the Boeing 767-300, flight 78, to arrest the woman.

It’s understood that someone in the woman’s family recently died. She had become agitated on the flight and was showing signs of a panic attack. Reports say that she repeatedly tried to break into the cockpit, which made the pilot so alarmed that he requested a priority approach to the runway. This, of course, triggered the action by the Royal Air Force.

Typhoon planes from RAF Coningsby were called to aid the American Airlines flight as a routine. A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defence insists that the jets broke away from the flight over Oxfordshire and didn’t escort the plane all the way to the airport like earlier reports suggested.

The crew on the American Airlines flight, which was carrying a total of 173 people, were able to calm the woman before it landed. Police then boarded and arrested her on suspicion of endangering a plane, which is an offence of the Aviation Act. She remained in police custody at the Heathrow station.

An American Airlines spokesman said that the pilot didn’t officially call for RAF action, and it’s not certain if the pilot was ever aware that the Typhoons had approached. However, he did confirm that a female passenger had become distressed during the flight and was trying to get into the cockpit, so they called for a priority approach as a precaution.

On Monday, Sony warned the millions of gamers who own a PlayStation 3 not to use their consoles while they try to fix a huge software bug. The group said that owners of the most recently released slim version of the system didn’t seem to be affected by the issue, which froze and crashed the older versions.  It appears to have been fixed, but Sony hasn’t officially said so.

It wasn’t clear just how many PS3 systems had been affected, but Sony said that they hoped to have the problem resolved in just 24 hours. The group has sold over 25 million units, so it goes without saying that there were probably at least thousands of upset gamers whose consoles had been affected.

In a note on its blog, Sony said that gamers who have an older model of the PS3 than the new slim version were advised not use the system, because it could result in some functionality errors, including recording obtained trophies. They added that this data wouldn’t be able to be restored.

This was the most serious bug reported for the PlayStation 3, a system that has been more reliable than Microsoft’s rival system, the XBOX 360. This is an embarrassing problem and yet another setback for Sony, who has been struggling to sell consoles until the newly released slim version and a price drop to $299, which gave them a boost. Both the Wii and the XBOX 360 have sold more units; however, the 360 has been out for nearly a year longer.

Hopefully Sony was right when they said they believed the problem had been identified - a bug in the system clock that causes many possible errors, including the date being reset to January 2000, players being immediately logged out of the PlayStation Network online and gamers being unable to play games offline - and the problem won’t come back. If it does, they may lose loyal customers.

Ryan Shawcross, a defender for Stoke City, has joined England for the first time. The 22-year-old has found himself in news headlines for unfortunate reasons this weekend after a tackle on Aaron Ramsey broke the Arsenal midfielder’s leg on Saturday. After the incident, Shawcross was seen leaving the field in tears.

Shawcross has been criticized by some for the hit he made on Ramsey, but it’s been ruled that the challenge wasn’t intended to be malicious at all. It’s been reported that the staff at England, including manager Fabio Capello, are fully backing him. The defender’s teammates are supporting him as well, saying that Shawcross didn’t intend to hurt Ramsey, but it’s unfortunate that it has led to such a bad injury.

In much better news for the defender, Capello put Shawcross in the England lineup for the match against Egypt at Wembley on Wednesday. On Sunday, reports claimed that he was hesitant to join the team, because he was so upset over his misjudgment of the tackle on Ramsey. However, after getting a pep talk from Potters manager Tony Pulis, Shawcross was seen joining England at their Hertfordshire base Sunday night. The team’s senior defenders - Jonathan Woodgate, Rio Ferdinand and Ledley King - are all absent due to injuries.

As for Ramsey, Arsenal confirmed that he went under successful surgery on a fractured fibula and tibia. On the club’s website, they say that the operation successfully reduced the fractures, but he will miss the rest of the matches this season at least. However, some reports suggest that the footballer may miss up to a year, while his career remains questionable. The website statement added that their thoughts are will Ramsey, and everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery.

Dawn Brancheau was standing in knee deep water interacting with Tilikum, a 5 ton 30-year-old male orca, when he pulled her into the water by her long ponytail. The 40-year-old trainer, who had 16 years of experience working with whales, was killed by the incident, which happened on Wednesday at Orlando’s SeaWorld theme park, which closed afterward.

Police have reported that Brancheau was killed from multiple traumatic injuries and drowning. At the time, park visitors were watching while she was interacting with him. It was first thought that she fell into his pool, but witnesses said that he grabbed her hair and pulled her underwater. The police statement says that all the evidence and witness statements indicate this was a tragic accident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Brancheau’s colleagues couldn’t immediately jump in to help her due to the killer whale’s aggressive nature. In order for the SeaWorld workers to recover Brancheau, they had to coax Tilikum into a small pool and lift him out of the water. This particular orca has been linked with 2 other deaths in 1991 and 1999.

The park said that they intend to keep Tilikum. However, all the orca shows in Orlando and San Diego have been suspended indefinitely. Corporate curator in charge of animal behavior Chuck Tompkins says that he doesn’t think the whale would survive in the wild. He added that they have had a hard time dealing with this, as all the animals loved working with Brancheau, but he doesn’t think putting the animal back in the wild would be fair.
