Impolite neighbour Simon Cowell
October 26, 2009
It is X Factor judge and producer Simon Cowell’s dream home, the one spot on the planet he feels really at home.
But while the talent show big boss may find himself mesmerised by his £12million six-bedroom castle by the ocean in the most exclusive street in Beverly Hills, it would seem that his neighbours are no so impressed.
One exhausted resident has even branded Cowell the neighbour from hell.
Police have been called to the villa many times because of complaints stemming from traffic violations, dirt from continuous building work and the noise at late-night parties.
Judy Wolf, proprietor of a £5million house directly next to what is now dubbed ‘Chateau Cowell’ in North Palm Drive, Los Angeles, said that building work has not stopped in five years, which has caused much distress. And the construction is not over yet.
Apparently the 50-year-old music producer didn’t like the way a few of the rooms had turned out. He therefore had them completely redone. It’s the never ending house project.
Another neighbourhood resident said people were furious at Cowell for not allowing anyone to park on his driveway, forcing all employees and builders to use the street outside.
The X Factor judge, who purchased the villa for £3.2million in 2004, decided to finally move in during the summer following extensive renovation work. When he moved in, he said the house is where he felt the most at home in Los Angeles.
Just off the famous Sunset Boulevard, the mansion features a private solarium, a fully equipped gym, pool and cinema, as well as a grand marble staircase.
Cowell also added a £500,000 security system and a similar amount was invested on the property’s stunning gardens.
Beverly Hills Police Department claimed it had no official complaints on file about Cowell, although a police officer sitting outside the mansion did admit that several complaints have been received mostly because of parking.
Neighbours also complained about Cowell’s partying scheduled, saying he’s a night owl. Allegedly, guests arrive at 11pm, and then the party goes on until 2am or 3am. People in the area said they want to accept him, although he’s not being cooperative.
Cowell is also building a £9million house in Barbados and already owns a £7.5million villa in London as well as a weekend home in Malaga, Spain.
