Kasabian and Lenny Kravitz are two of the acts set to play in Paris for a large Peace Day concert.
The concert is set for the Paris Le Grand Rex on September 19 and Canal+ will globally broadcast the event two days later, on Peace Day.
Other acts include Keziah Jones, Charlie Winston, Olivia Ruiz and Ayo.
“Ten years ago, I had an idea; I dared to dream that I could galvanise the countries of the world to recognise an official day of ceasefire of non-violence. Mad? Ambitious? Idealistic? All of the above. Many years and a lot of hard work later, I am starting to feel that we are really getting somewhere; every year, on September 21st, people from all over the globe, people of all ages, races, sexes and faiths, are commemorating Peace Day any which way they can”, says founder of Peaceoneday.org Jeremy Gilley on his website.
In a statement made recently, he added: “Our goal is to reach three billion people with the message of peace one day by 2012. It’s not a pipedream, it’s a strategic process, but we all need to get involved.”
An other notable event for the special day is the Havana concert by Colombian singer Juanes, with his “Peace Without Borders” show at the Cuban capital’s Revolution Plaza with a line up of artists from Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Cuba and the United States.
Peace Day is a day when all members of the United Nations take part to a global ceasefire.
