Suicide Death Of A Korean Super Model

November 20, 2009

South Korean top model Daul Kim has apparently committed suicide. The 20 year-old is alleged to have hanged herself on November 19. Her boyfriend is said to have discovered her body in her Paris apartment.

The 5′10″ model posted a last entry in her blog called I Like to Fork Myself just a day before her death with a YouTube video of the Jim Rivers track “I Go Deep”.

Kim, who was also a videographer and a painter, recently claimed to be exhausted by her busy work schedule.

Kim said she was “mad depressed and overworked,” on her blog on October 30. She also wrote admitted that the more money she earned the lonelier she felt. She even referred to herself as a ghost.

The fashion industry is tainted by several cases of substance abuse, eating disorders and depression stemming from a hectic schedule as well as other factors. It’s an industry obsessed with youth and perfection.

According to some people in the fashion industry, the pressures of the highly-competitive modelling business got to her.

A fixture on Paris, New York, London and Milan runways, Kim had been featured in ads for Chanel, Peter Pilotto, Dries van Noten, and Christopher Kane.

Her parents have been alerted and it’s been said that her devastated mom is on her way to France.

This echoes the story of Russian model Ruslana Korshunova, who leaped out of Manhattan apartment on to her death in June last year.

The 5-foot-8 Ruslana, an absolutely stunning woman, had worked for DKNY, Christian Dior and Vera Wang.  Vogue magazine had even branded her as the next mega star of modeling here years earlier.
