Ryanair Named Worst Family Brand In The UK

November 25, 2009

No-frills airline Ryanair will want to quickly hush some not so pleasant recent news. It’s been branded as the company with the worst record in terms of “the family” in Britain.

The recent study, called the FamilyBrands survey, ranked the biggest and most popular companies in the UK and is commissioned by Isobel, an advertising agency.

Based on the results of the FamilyBrands poll, the budget carrier appears to not care about its customers and does almost nothing to promote family values. It also appears greedy, charging £5 extra when a credit card is used for ticket purchases.

The study was carried with the help of 1,500 Britons, who judged about 100 well known UK firms as well as other entities such as political parties for criteria such as the treatment of families and social responsibility.

The research showed that the airline industry has got a lot of home work to do, as if going through their worst business period in history wasn’t enough. British Midland and its offshoot BMI Baby as well as EasyJet were also ranked in the bottom.

But retailers appeared to perform very strongly in terms of family image. Marks & Spencer finished as the best company in the UK for families, followed by the Co-op, Boots and Kellogg’s.

Funny enough, the junk food industry is experiencing a little bout of dichotomy since fast food companies of the likes of Burger King and Domino’s performed horribly while chocolate giant Cadbury finished in the top ten.

The Conservative party received a respectable 26th rank, mostly due to Tory leader David Cameron’s caring demeanor. The Liberal party was ranked 33rd but the Labour party finished with a barely passable 52nd position.

Indignant! If it weren’t for Ryanair,I couln’t have shared my only Grndson’s growing(6). Each two months I go there &spend one month with him,I fly 40000 Km.a year with Ryanair. The three of them, can come & visit me & the Grand-grandmother(92) twice a year, same by Ryan. Alternative? Iberia:almost 400 Euro each, something less for the child. Maybe is basic ,but keeps the Family united.Price? About 60 E.each flight, more train fares.Flight duration:Two hours15′, add 2 hours train, taxi or car. Other alternative,I used before? Three days travel, by boat plus trenhotel,price:800 Euro.(one person).Long lives Ryanair.

I don’t like this airline, but it’s too easy to always accuse them! easyJet and BMI baby, two other low cost airlines are just next to Ryanair.
