Asda has long been known as a supermarket but a closer inspection will show it sells far more than just groceries. The chain now boasts an enormous different range of books, dvds, electrical goods, games, flowers and gift ideas. The Company takes its green responsibilities very seriously too. Asda has pledged that by 2010 it will no longer use landfill sites for its waste.

Another radical move is to remove the disposable bags at their check out and stress the importance of ‘bags for life’ one of their green schemes. The Company is rightly proud of its recycling policy which has seen a 65% drop in waste. More details can be found at
